Today I would like to suggest a beautiful region in Italy, that I love: Puglia or Apulia. From the Gargano coast to the tip of Italy “boot heel” Santa Maria di Leuca, you will find a perfect venue for a special wedding. Apulia offer country landscape with centuries-old olive groves and vineyards, good weather with lots of sunny days during the year, beutiful beaches with clear water, historical points of interest and extraordinary cuisine. Lovely old farmhouses called “Masseria” or the traditional apulian “Trulli” (stone houses with conical roof ) are stunning venues for a non-traditional wedding.
For a rustic and country wedding these venues are perfect. What about an outdoor wedding ceremony in the olive grove? The landscape is so natural and lovely, that you won’t need a lot of flowers, some baby’s breath small bouquet on the chairs along the aisle or galvanized buckets filled with daisies.
The wedding bouquet must reflect the country style and give the feeling of wildflowers, based on the season : ranunculus, miniature daisies, veronika, garden roses, sweet peas, lily of the valley, sage, rosemary and others.
The same flowers can be used for the reception tables , using mason jars and vintage bottle filled with mixed flowers and a lot of candles . The old tradition of the embroidery and the crochet is still present in Apulia and you can find a lot of local markets that sell lovely doilies and embroidered runner, that can be used as nice decor or as thank you gift. The food and the cusine in Apulia is so great that you can offer your guests an excellent menu. From the Burrata, a fresh cheese with mozzarella and cream to the fresh pasta Orecchiette served with vegetables or tomato sauce and the fresh local fish, all accompanied by local wine. As Apulia is a major producer of olive oil a nice favor for the guests can be a small bottle of olive oil with a personalize label.
